"Then it was said that large, established railroad systems were essential to the public welfare; and that the
collapse of one of them would be a national catastrophe; and that if one such system had happened to sustain a
crushing loss in a public-spirited attempt to contribute to international good will, it was entitled to public
support to help it survive the blow."

Yeah, it's been looking like that was coming for a long time. The scary part is how close to the really, really bad parts we are getting now.

Oakland Tower, FedEx 84 Heavy, established ILS 29

yaya.

I see it now. People so afraid to make decisions, and so they decide to do nothing. 4 months later, they're upset because nothing has been done, and we're stuck. "Oh, because you decided to not have this happen, said you'd take care of it, and didn't."

*sigh*

One of the pretty smart guys here is pretty heavily beaten down by it and is about ready to retire to some farmland in south GA. I told him I might have to come build a dome on the corner of his land. :)

Re: Oakland Tower, FedEx 84 Heavy, established ILS 29

I've been beaten down by for a long time, I guess. There's a reason I don't talk about politics or current events anymore. I'm not sure it can be fixed anymore. Maybe it still could be, but I don't think we have the people who can fix it. Yeah, it scares me, and people cover it up by talking about things like "hope" and "change" and that scares me even more.

recessions are a sucky and completely natural part of the economic cycle. Doing nothing isn't a bad thing, really.

Yah, I think the bailouts are simply weakening our country.

It's like saying, "Oh, well, cancer cells are just underprivileged. We should just keep feeding them MORE blood so maybe they'll turn back into healthy, productive cells."

Thanks. I was surprised. I think I should win a major award for it. :)
