What is "Sedentary"...

Per the USDA http://fnic.nal.usda.gov/interactiveDRI/

Sedentary: Daily activities such as housework or gardening
Low Active:</b> 30 minutes of moderate activity such as walking at 4 mph
Active: 60 minutes of moderate activity such as walking/jogging at 3-4 mph, or 30 minutes vigorous activity such as jogging at 5.5 mph
Very Active: 45-60 minutes of vigorous activity

So where's the "sits at desk all day"? It doesn't exist.

that would be
ME: sits at desk all day and thinks he needs more activity

I never knew I was part of the USDA definitions ;)

Shhhh... Don't worry about it. Just play more Star Trek Online and whip out some better KSH/BASH scripts...

Oh wait, that's MY answer to the problem.

Yah, superficially, you and I seem similar, other than the 10yr age gap.

Heh, yah, I agree. Apparently, sedentary is where your daily activity does not include raising your heart rate over some unspecified number.

I do not think that word means what [they] think it means ...

I would hate to see the condition of their house if they consider housework sedentary. ;)

Re: I do not think that word means what [they] think it means ...

Based on their metrics, even down at 220 (is that even reachable for me?) I'd still burn 2987kcal per day in a sedentary life.

Re: I do not think that word means what [they] think it means ...

Hehe, yah, especially if you have stairs.
