So, TSM has had some quality issues since 6.x.

Examples include remnants of unused columns, and faulty default queries. Default tools don't install properly on non-primary platform, or require undocumented procedures. Reporting docs are build docs, not install docs.

When brought to the attention of Tivoli management through side channels, they were interested in accepting my complaints, but had no actual interest in finding out anything else. It was more of a courtesy to who I knew on the inside, and because I'm a partner. There was no implication of interest in actually improving the product for the sake of having a quality product again.

Anyway, the old operational reporter works pretty well with minor SQL changes. Before shutting off messages sent to me from one of my installs a month or so ago, I checked the logs. I see this from the default admin center healthcheck:

2010-07-03 11:43:26      ANR2017I Administrator ADMIN_CENTER issued command: select
                          colname, typename from syscat.columns where
                          tabname='EVENTS E' (SESSION: 15522)
2010-07-03 11:43:26 ANR2034E SELECT: No match found using this criteria.
                          (SESSION: 15522)

Since when did any table name have a space in the name?

Maybe this is something new in TSM 6.2.1 and the multi-version support in admin center is broken? I don't know. I just know it still feels very much like a beta product after 3 years of having users and 2 major releases.

The select statements are called by admin center's default healthcheck.

If they're not supported in that capacity, then it's still a fault in the default config of admin center.
