OpenDedupe - SDFS
Josh 201604 KWP

Looks promising, though it takes about 2 GHz worth of Core2 technology to drive 50MByte/sec. Also, after a couple of minutes, it starts reprocessing what's on disk, which saturates I/O and kills inbound thruput.

I think if you had a dedicated head unit for this, maybe 8-core nehalem with 32GB of RAM, then this would be pretty awesome.

There's also an open-source VTL project called mhvtl, but it only works on local host. There's no tie-in to a scsi or fscsi target mode driver yet. Still, running that on top of the SDFS could be pretty awesome.

I'd love to see both of these folded into OpenFiler 3.0
