Ancillary Justice
Josh 201604 KWP
This story is a great tale of the 2000 year life of the occupation ship Justice of Toren, focussing on the One Esk Decade, a division of its AI attached, augmented human crew, with 20 soldiers and a Lieutennant, and the 19th segment of that decade.

Throughout the travels and dealings, we are introduced to the great variety of religions and social structures within the Radch, the core of human civilization, and the fringe elements. Planetary and space realms, social structures, and classism all play parts in this giant empire.

As with any empire, there are struggles and dangers at every level. The struggle between politic, revenge, and justice is laid out in this story in a refreshingly unique manner.

I hate to even bring it up, but there is a lot of talk about this empire's take on gender identity, so I would be remiss to omit it. If gender of others is crucial to your own sense of identity, this story may be uncomfortable to read. If so, I challenge you to consider why that matters to you. What prejudices or preconceptions do you carry? Why does it matter if someone other than your bedroom partner is any specific gender? All traits exist among all genders if you meet enough people.
