IE 2 download limitation

Directoy from microsoft's knowledge base...

To comply with current Requests for Comments (RFC), Internet Explorer limits the number of simultaneous downloads to two downloads, plus one queued download. This configuration is a function of the browser. However, as connection speeds increase, and the number of total connections that are allowed to Internet servers increase, the two-connection limit may be restrictive. To increase the number of simultaneous connections that are allowed to 10, follow these steps:

Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).

Locate the following key in the registry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings
On the Edit menu, click Add Value , and then add the following registry values:

"MaxConnectionsPer1_0Server"=Dword:0000000a
"MaxConnectionsPerServer"=Dword:0000000a

Quit Registry Editor.

This procedure is for informational purposes only.

Re: Bloody Brilliant

<- raised within a british english medium, i used to say "lift, lorry, quid" all of those when i first moved here...indian boy with a brit accent, quiet odd to say the least.

trivia: i used to call a "whopper" a "wu-per"

swear to god.

my elementary years well social hell....=X

Re: Bloody Brilliant

My friend Bidhan Chakraborty has an interesting accent. He is Bengali, grew up in Germany, spent time in Africa as well. His schooling was in Brittish, American and German schools. He learned to write Hindi and Bengali AFTER he moved back to India when he was 16.

Me, I only speak TexAmerican.

Re: Bloody Brilliant

cool! I wish i remembered how to speak arabic and hindi, I could carry on a conversation in both quite fleuently when i was 8, then i moved to the states, and now i'm a fucking language vegetable, so to speak.

I can still count to 10 and greet people in arabic....=T

Re: Bloody Brilliant

Yah, the US seems to be a knowledge sink... too easy to become comfortable. at least right now... but I'm sure that will change.

Re: Bloody Brilliant

here's hoping

"insh allah"

that would be "allah willing" in arabic, btw. =]

Or you could use Linux and not every have to worry about such silly restrictions again :)

Thbbt... I'm playing with virtual PC to work out a procedure for that. Unless I wanted to buy a new system and fork with it for a while.

You don't even have to install Linux... just stop using IE.

IE blows... there are plenty of browsers that will replace it and still run on a win32 platform.

maybe... I dunno... I used to use netscape, but the constant crashing, poor rendering, etc...

Opera has been tried, but not recently. It was cluttered, unimpressive and unstable when I tried it last.

I'm just too lazy to spend an entire weekend testing out web browsers, or setting up Debian the way I want.

Now, if my job was Debian, I'd know how to do it quickly, and I'd have a local package cache, but from a realistic standpoint, setting up debian, other than progeny, is a long and drawn out process requiring alot of manual input.

Even so, it's bloat just like Windows because billy joe bob thinks these eight packages are important, fred and bill write their admin tools in python while james use tcl/tk and manish uses PERL.

I recall having similar debates 10 years ago... pcplus vs telix vs telemate... :)

Say it with me class...

MOH - ZIH - LAH

Same browser, whichever platform you run, it all works, it renders well, and the plugins do just fine.

Personally, I think you're making this whole thing way more difficult than it needs to be. =)

Let's see.. Last time I used mozilla, it was bloaty, bloaty, bloaty and crashed.

so...
suffer
suffer
suffer
eventually it'll be worked out.

or
it works for me, no suffering, yay.

don't worry, I'll get around to playing with other browsers again...

sometime.
:)
