haus stuff

Welp... as I said, the foundation guy said the settling looks like the normal stuff, no biggies...

Aparently, the home inspector pointed out stress fractures (normal), sagging beam in livingroom (it's 1x6 wood slats stuck together, not a solid structural beam), one bedroom door catching when it closes (has been that way for a long time, before we moved in) and the kitchen floor slopes (this is true). I don't know what he "SAID" to the buyers, but the report doesn't sound like a problem. I'll get my hands on a copy this afternoon though.

We also are going to spring for a structural engineer to come review the house and make sure all is ok. I'm sure it is, but having a report from him will be good. He can't make it out until monday, and he'll fax and mail the report on tuesday.

I guess after that, it would be a good time to have the door adjusted and the beam tightened up... though I suppose we should wait until after the inspection. If the house were to need levelling (aka jacking up, piers put underneath), I'd want to have that done BEFORE I try to straighten anything else out.

Still, I hope that's not needed... it'd be like $2k and we're running very low on cash right now.
