i wonder how it doesnt have problems overheating? do mac ever overheat like Pc's?

can you add ram to a small thing like that?
256MB DDR333 SDRAM? EW!!

that would be worth getting just to have a PC and a MAC though mmm

-=wawa=-

awesomely overpriced...

I thought it was only like $499?

$563.00 for the 1.42ghz, i'd rather build a twice powerful pc for that much.

You could get a 32-bi P4 2.4HT with 256M/40G/CD for that price from a name brand. You'd have slots, but it would be roughly the same speed. P4 is a joke. PIII, Pentium M and Xeon are better bang per MHz and even so, the G4/G5/POWER5 chips blow them away, 2:1.

i dunno shite about the G series units, never was into apples, but i do like the performance i experienced with my dad's P4 3HT laptop from dell, price withstanding mind you.

$469 with IBM discount. :)

*completely unrelated*

Here's the link to the Geotagging article I was telling you about this morning: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8025

Would be interesting to see a graphical interpretation of the locations of the blogs I read, just because it would be fun for 5 seconds. :)

Hmmm, road trip planning tool-- just map the route by the people you can crash with. Heh.

PS, ILY.

Re: *completely unrelated*

Funny how things work that way, huh? Seems I do that a lot. :)

Re: *completely unrelated*

OK, geotags set for realjosh, though the coords are off... it's the front corner of the garage instead of the ridge-line. It's within 10 feet. Elevation is off though. We're somewhere between 500 and 900, most likely on the low side. I put 620f (190m)

Re: *completely unrelated*

haha... that might be cool.
travel, travel, over the landscape, yoooooooo.

What is it with nerds these days drooling over Macs?

The Mac part is irrelevant to me... I like the size. :) Cuteness counts, ja?

My Mac friends keep trying to get me to bow down to OSX. Should I be afraid?

I dunno why you should be afraid. I've yet to have a conversation with one of my "Mac friends" that didn't end in a petty flamewar.

IM me sometime and I'll show you the most recent of these conversations, which incidentally was the catalyst for Matt and me to resurrect the spirit of the Gentle News.

form factor rocks.
Unix rocks.
I'm not familiar enough with OSX GUI.
MacOS GUI wasn't quite right, but also price was just rough.

I'd like a couple, one for pLinux and one for OSX

with decent ram, could replace DT and ns1... :)

PPC, Unix, better chip internals, better I/O handling, better graphics software support. It's what the Amiga wanted to be, almost.

Plus, I work for the company that makes those chips, so I'm partial to 'em.

But, 1.25GHz G4 would make a nice pLinux cluster machine too.

haha. :)

I just like PPC chips and can't afford one of these
