There was a minor www outage this morning while I tried to upgrade libc.
I looked more into the linker errors and it really looks like libnfslock isn't current.

Since I'm not using NFS, I don't really need a "Preload library that overrides open() to make O_EXCL work over NFS."

But, / filled up on retry. Whee.

I love it when / fills up... that's always fun.

Once upon a time I had to manage a Solaris box running Oracle Financials, which would randomly dump 40G text files to root. Ahh, good times.

That sounds like a minor design issue....

Were the names predictable?
Was it because of the PWD of the app when it was started, or ?

It was an Oracle Financials issue, and no the file names were fairly random. I never did figure out why it was doing it mainly because it was infrequent enough that I never felt like taking the time to really dig into it... I usually had several other things that required my attention.

Then they laid most of us off and I stopped caring. =)
